Third year core continues study of more complex situations that may arise within the midwifery scope of practice, such as Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC), unusual presentations, and preterm birth, as well as complex skills training, like treatment of shock.
Supplementals in the third year are designed to provide a capstone to the curriculum, which includes original research and an in-depth course on developing and structuring a midwifery practice.
Many students are actively involved in their clinical training by the third year of the program.
