Birthingway’s Lactation Consultation Program provides students with classroom and clinical experience in preparation for work as a professional Lactation Consultant. Students are trained within the biodynamic model, emphasizing physiological processes and low intervention care.

*Birthingway does not offer online courses at this time.*

Program Goals

Graduates of Birthingway’s Lactation Consultation Program will:

• have basic competency in providing biodynamic care.
• be able to use compassionate communication and empathy, and identify feelings and needs.
• be prepared to be internationally certified by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE).
• have the opportunity to earn an associate degree.

There are many options and pathways to becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, but I think Birthingway’s Pathway 2 program is something special. The depth and breadth of knowledge offered in our lactation-specific education series is far beyond what other programs are providing right now. Our students benefit immensely from face-to-face learning opportunities within the framework of a supportive community. Our graduates are not only prepared to sit for and pass their board exams, they are also ready to start their professional practices providing empathetic and clinically excellent lactation care to infants and their families.
