Isis Armendariz is a Birth and Postpartum Doula currently serving diverse families in Portland, OR. She strives to serve as an extra set of hands, a warm-heart, and a source of calm support in every client’s home. She understands that parenthood can be a uniquely transformative experience for every family and every journey should be uniquely supported and honored. She believes that when mothers and families receive encouragement, positive modeling, and gentle guidance during the early weeks and months after the arrival ofbaby, they can find their own rhythm and confidence to meet the challenges that arise during this time of transition. Because there is no one, single way to parent and successfully care for an infant, Isis approaches her role as a doula with the least amount of intervention and finds that to be the most effective way to empower mothers. Her areas of special interest and training include identifying breastfeeding issues, baby soothing techniques, babywearing, and overnight doula care so that families can recharge for the day ahead.
Isis believes that all women can greatly benefit from individualized supportive care after the birth and feels passionately about making postpartum doula services more accessible to low-income women, single moms, and immigrant populations in her community. When women and babies are held up and society honors the sacred time of bonding that must occur in order for families to thrive, we all benefit collectively.
When not working with clients, you can find Isis working in her garden, crafting, practicing yoga, and exploring thePacific NW with her beautiful son, Bodhi.
