After 30 years of training midwives, doulas, lactation consultants, and childbirth educators, Birthingway College has closed its doors. As of October 18, 2022, the corporation was dissolved. We are proud that we were able to support our final students in graduating from their programs, despite the pandemic and other challenges. And we are proud of all our students, who have supported birthing people and families in Oregon, throughout the US, and around the world, with safe and empowering experiences. We’ve made the world a better place, one client at a time.
Transcripts for Midwifery and Lactation Consultant Students
Birthingway no longer issues transcripts.
If you attended the Midwifery Program or the Lactation Consultant Program, then you can obtain your transcript from the Oregon Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC). You’ll need to fill out a written, online form provided by the Commission, and pay a $12.00 application fee. You will receive one unofficial and three official sealed copies of your transcript. You may also request that your transcripts be provided to an employer or post-secondary school if you indicate that on the form.
Transcripts will not be provided by HECC to third party credential services for education verification, in compliance with FERPA rules for student protection. Individual student records are confidential and not subject to public records requests.
The HECC site with the form is https://www.oregon.gov/highered/institutions-programs/private/Pages/private-postsecondary-school-closure-transcripts.aspx
The Transcript Release Request form is about half way down with a link to the fillable form.
Verification of Attendance for Labor Doula and Postpartum Doula Students
If you attended the Labor Doula or Postpartum Doula workshops, you can obtain a letter of verification of attendance. This will indicate when you took the workshop, if/when you completed the workshop, and if you attended the doula practicum, your date of practicum completion.
To request this verification, you must send an original signed request, along with either a self-addressed, stamped envelope (for an original signed copy) OR an email address (for a scanned copy), to:

A Note from Holly:
From the school’s birth around my dining room table in 1993, through years of in-person learning, and most recently, embracing online courses, Birthingway has responded with resilience and dedication in fulfilling our mission – to educate excellent practitioners of the midwifery arts and sciences. Our past students bring extensive knowledge, skillful hands, and committed hearts to their work, helping birthing people and their families through the life-changing experiences of childbirth. I am proud of every one of them! As we all move forward, the need for physiology-based midwifery care and support for informed choice will only grow. I’m optimistic that a new generation of midwifery educators and enthusiastic students will meet those needs.Warmly,
Holly Scholles
