Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
The privacy of your student records at Birthingway is protected by federal law. Birthingway will not release your private student information except when it is required by regulation (for example, if we are being reviewed by a federal auditor or by our accreditor) or if it’s necessary in order to provide your education or related services (for example, sometimes we may need to work with your prior school to determine your financial aid eligibility).
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords students certain rights with respect to their academic records. These rights include:
-
The right to inspect and review the student’s academic records within 45 days of the day the College receives a request for access.
-
The right to request the amendment of the student’s academic records that the student believes is inaccurate, misleading, or otherwise in violation of the student’s privacy rights.
-
The right to consent to disclosures of personally identifiable information contained in the student’s academic records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without consent.
-
The right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education concerning alleged failures by the College to comply with the requirements of FERPA. The name and address of the Office that administers FERPA is:
