Certified Labor Doulas

Below is the list of Birthingway certified labor doulas. (If you came straight to this page from a search or another site, you might want to read our Doula FAQ first.

The labor doulas listed on this page are certified by Birthingway College of Midwifery. Their certification is valid for 4 years, at which point they are expected to submit paperwork documenting at least 5 births within the 4 year period as well as 15 contact hours of documented continuing education for recertification. The Labor Doulas listed on this page are professionals; therefore, their services are fee-based. Each individual Labor Doula will have his or her own rate for services.

Before you peruse the following list of certified labor doulas in search of someone to assist you in your upcoming labor & delivery, please read the following statements:

The labor doulas presented on this page are independent practitioners. Their listing is not an endorsement by Birthingway College of Midwifery, nor does it signify a formal relationship with the College.

Birthingway College of Midwifery is not responsible for the conduct of these labor doulas in their role as prenatal, labor, and postpartum support for the expectant mother and/or her supporters. Birthingway makes no claims regarding these labor doulas, other than that they have completed the certification requirements and received certification as labor doulas from Birthingway College of Midwifery. These labor doulas are not supervised by Birthingway when providing doula services to clients. Therefore, anyone contacting and engaging the services of the certified labor doulas listed below do so voluntarily, and hold harmless Birthingway College of Midwifery for their conduct.

Services Provided: Prenatal visits including relaxation techniques, discussion of options, interventions, and physiology of birth; develop written or roughly sketched birth plan, reiki and birth art. 24-hour telephone contact. On call 2 weeks prior to and after estimated due date. Attend labor from when the mother and partner want me present until they are ready for alone time with their new family. Labor support includes reiki; remind of birth preferences; quick reference position chart;light massage; acupressure; comfort measures; emotional, physical and informational support; integration of partner if necessary; uninterupted presence of love, compassion and faith in birth. Postpartum visit to go over the birth and initial breastfeeding if necessary. Ask me about good books to read during pregnancy!

Services Provided: Complimentary meeting to get acquainted. Birth Package: 3 prenatal meetings (the earlier in the pregnancy I am contacted, the more opportunity there will be for getting to know one another. I encourage phone calls or e-mails), continuous labor and delivery support, 2-3 hours immediate postpartum support, 1-2 postpartum meetings. I offer the timeless skills of a Doula ("woman's servant"). I will be available to you and at your side at all times. I'll give you massage, help with positioning, ice chips, cold wash cloths, breathing assistance, walk with you, talk with you, or be quiet with you. I'll honor your choices.

Other Skills/Services Offered: Development of a birth plan, inclusive of familial support during your birth experience and experienced with comfort techniques. Able to understand Spanish language better than responding fluently. Expertise is working with teenage mothers.
